The New Year (2026) zazen meetings will begin with a Friday evening zazen session on January 9 and a Saturday zazen session on January 10. We look forward to your participation.
Every third Saturday of the month, we hold sesshin, an overnight intensive zazen practice from Wednesday evening to Sunday noon.
January sesshin will be held from Wednesday, January 13 to Sunday, January 18. From Wednesday to Thursday, after early morning zazen, we will return to our normal daily routines, such as going to work from the dojo and returning to the dojo in the evening for zazen and overnight stay, spending time intensively facing our selves.
Tesshu Zenkai holds zazen sessions for the general public. One of the five-day to one-week-long overnight Zen retreats (sesshin) will be open to the public as a trial day. Please join us.

Zazen will be cancelled for the month of February due to the Seikan holiday, and will resume with an evening zazen session on Friday, March 6.
At Kōho-in, a temple of the Tenryū-ji branch of the Rinzai school located in Nakano Ward, Tokyo, near Shinjuku, we hold a 15-minute zazen session and a 30-minute Dharma talk led by the head priest once a month on Sunday mornings in the temple’s formal tea room. During the tea gathering that follows, the head priest will answer any questions you may have.
The next Sunday Zen Talk will be held on Sunday, August 30.
The Sunday Zen Talk Session in September is scheduled for the 27th.

The Friday evening zazen session on April 10 and the Saturday zazen session on April 11 will be cancelled due to preparations for the Buddhist memorial service.
We hold Chokushin'ei-ryu "Hōtei" practice sessions at the dojo in Kōho-in, Nakano Ward, Tokyo—located near Shinjuku—on the second Saturday of every month following the zazen session. In July, the session is scheduled to take place after the Saturday zazen session on the 11th.
